Welcome Note

Dear Toastmasters,

On behalf of Toastmasters International and District 51, I am delighted to invite you to attend the 83rd Toastmasters International Convention, to be in Kuala Lumpur, from 20-8-2014 to 23-8-2014.

District 51 is privileged to be selected to host the first International Convention outside of the US and Canada.  To have been given the opportunity to host the International Toastmasters Convention is an honor, and we have every intention to showcase our Malaysian charm and hospitality.

2014 is “Visit Malaysia Year” and the Malaysian Government has planned a host of activities to promote tourism. Our overseas delegates can participate in  many of these exciting events to see, to explore, to experience and above all, to enjoy the best of Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur is situated at the heart of South East Asia, which makes travel to the other countries convenient.

To the members of District 51, do not miss the opportunity to attend the International Convention which has been brought right to your doorstep. It will be an eye-opener for many of us who have not attended a Toastmasters International event at the world level. Imagine the number of international delegates you will be meeting and interacting with at the convention; the friendships you will develop with Toastmasters from all over the world.  In addition to this, you will no longer just hear about the World Championship of Public Speaking or watch the video – you can  witness the birth of yet another World Champion of Public Speaking! The Educational sessions will be another great learning experience. And, don’t miss the chance to attend the Golden Gavel Award event and the President’s Inauguration  and  Celebration, too.

This website aims to provide relevant information of the Convention to delegates while it also serves as a platform for the registration of volunteers for the Convention.

We welcome feedback from you. If there are areas which you think can help to improve our communication, please feel free to write to us.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar: 20-23 August 2014 at the KL Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I look forward to welcoming you.

Best regards,

Yat Seow,Low

Host District Chair, 83rd Toastmasters International Convention

We require a number of volunteers, but we are focusing on local volunteers as overseas volunteers may not be able to attend the briefing which will be held just before the convention. However, if you are keen to volunteer, please go to this website, click on the Volunteers tab, and then click on Volunteer Registration, and fill in the details there to submit your request to be a volunteer.

Hi, I am from District 89, Ocean Toastmasters Club.

I am currently leading a team from HK to bid for the D89 2015 Spring Conference to be held in HK. I believe that any experience from 2014 KL Internation Convention would be a great asset and experience for us to bring into our local events too. Please feel free to let me know if there are anything our team can help.

I will join together with other Philippine delegates. I noticed that the registration isn’t broken down. Does this mean we are all going to pay full?

Will the fee for registration cover the food too? What is the flat rate? is it 450 US dollars for 3 days?

      Hi Savitha,

There is one all-in package fee of USD450, for the 4 days of the Convention. This does not cover lunch for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You can pay an additional USD60 for a buffet lunch package, however, food is easily available in and near the Convention venue, so it’s your choice. Please refer to website page http://www.toastmasters.org/convention and then select Registration Package Details to see what is and is not covered.

      Regards,

      Siva
